Terms of use, a safety disclaimer, and how Reactor Dynamics is licensed. Plain-language summaries up front; the operative terms follow.

Reactor Dynamics is an educational simulation — not engineering software. It must never be used to operate, design, train for, or make any decision about a real nuclear facility. It is no substitute for licensed operator training.

1. Educational use & safety disclaimer

Reactor Dynamics is a teaching tool. Its physics are simplified, lumped-parameter models tuned to illustrate how plants behave and to reproduce the conditions behind historical accidents — not to reproduce any specific reactor to engineering fidelity. Setpoints, procedures, and behavior are approximations chosen for learning.

You must not rely on this simulator, its operator manuals, or any output it produces for the operation, design, maintenance, licensing, or safety analysis of any real nuclear plant or other industrial system, nor as a substitute for accredited operator training or professional advice.

2. No warranty

Reactor Dynamics is provided “as is,” without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. The simulator may contain errors in physics, procedures, or behavior, and may be unavailable or change at any time.

3. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the author shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages arising out of or relating to your use of, or inability to use, Reactor Dynamics — even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Your use of the simulator is entirely at your own risk.

4. No affiliation

Reactor Dynamics is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any nuclear utility, reactor vendor, regulatory body, or the operators of any real facility. References to Three Mile Island, Chernobyl, Fukushima, and to reactor designs and vendors are made for historical and educational purposes only. All trademarks and plant names are the property of their respective owners.

5. Licensing

Reactor Dynamics is free / open-source software, and its written material is openly licensed. Two licenses apply:

The authoritative license files ship with the project as LICENSE (AGPL-3.0) and LICENSE-CONTENT (CC BY 4.0). Because the simulator runs entirely in your browser, its source is delivered to you with every page.

6. Suggested attribution

If you reuse the manuals or other CC BY content, please credit:

7. Privacy

What the site collects (very little) is described on the Privacy page.
